U11's B (The Stingers) First Season Playing 11 Aside
This season saw the big switch to 11 aside football. There were initial concerns on how the boys were going to adapt from small sided football to 11 aside, together with the introduction of the offside rule to cope with as well as the bigger pitches and goals.
The league as always when a rule change comes into force split the season into two halves so the boys started the season in the Purple Division (4th).With 10 games to play between September and December to decide what Division they will play in for the second half of the season (Jan to May) where teams will be playing for the title.
The concerns were unfounded the boys took to the rule changes like ducks to water. after an initial shakey start the team started to grow in confidence and were starting to beat teams that they had struggled to get a result from last season.
The end of the first half of the season saw the team finish in second place 1 point behind the winners Marshfield. This meant that the boys earned a promotion to the third division. Fantastic!.
The third division was as expected a hard slog, the boys were up against first choice teams, they battled hard and showed that they were worthy of the earlier promotion.
The team finished the season in second place in the new third division against some tough opponents. A fantastic acheivement in their first season at 11 aside.
More silverware was to come via the TWFC presentation evening as not only were the boys awarded with their runners up medals but the team were also voted best Team acheivers for the season and an individual award went to Jake for his outstanding goal tally.
A very satisfying season indeed. Bring on the next.
